I've been Tagged!!!

I have been tagged by abang a'a and he personally "text" me about it....right after i finished my class, terus jer turun ke ofis and bukak abg a'a's blog...ye la i need to know i've been tag about what kan....well abg a'a altho u stated in ur blog that u have a boring life, wait untill u read about my life...very dull and pathetic hehehe....but again what the heck kan...so here goes...

Five things in my bag ( right now the only bag that i carry around wud be my handbag)
1) My phone (the old phone since end 0f 2003 kot...it is my second phone...for those who know me since 2003, u know which one la kan maybe the housing jer dah tukar hehhe)
2) my purse (altho it's a new one but dah tak bleh nak tutup...it's one of the purses that closes well when u do not put anything inside it but when u stuff in all ur "cards" terus tak leh tutup)
3) the girlie things like a lipsitck and a small compact powder(altho i rarely use both...just put it there in case i need it during emergency cases(most unlikely to happen))
4)one bag/case where i put all of my keys inside it (house, lab and car keys)
5) 2 pens and a ruler ( 1 tuh dah tak dak ink and it's a wonder why i still carry it though..)

Five things inside my wallet
1) mykad
2) my driving license (bet this two things wud be listed in everybody's tag)
3) cards ( 3 atm cards, 2 real rewards card, 1 bonus link card, 1 creadit card, 1 kfc card, 1 jusco card, 1 bodyshop card, 1 toys "r" us card, 1 um card...my old matrix card....hehehe no wonder the purse cud not close properly :) )
4) money ( tapi duit orang lain....rehan and linda have paid the house rent so i have to go and cash in the money after work)

Five things in my favourite room
i cannot think of a favourite room rite now so i'm going to follow abg a'a la...bedroom...here goes

1) my Harry Potter book- the deathly hallows ( i guess i'll be forever "gripped" with this book)
2)my bed - of course i like it best everytime i change the sheets
3)my pillow - ada 3...after all what is the function of a bed without pillows rite...full and fluffy pillow esp batal kekabu mannnn heaven aaa
4)my hair brush - well it is not one of my favourite things but i dont know dah benda apa yg nak kena letak...so i just pick the things that i cud not live with..tak tahan aaaa kalau tak sikat rambut
5) my other story books...u can find books all around...in the book rack and on my bed...ada la dlm 3-4 books beside my bed...

Five things I would like to do:
1) travelling....tak kisah mana2 pun wud do...but one place that i have to go before i die wud be Ireland...but then i want to go to switzerland and beijing and london and scottland and dubai and turkey again...and the list can go on and on....
2) diet and excecise...desprately need to lose some weight..susah nak cari baju raya waaaa
3) shopping by using someone else's money....hahaha

Five things I'm currently on
1) marking the students' assigments
2) searching for a baju raya ( tak dak lagi nih baju raya isk..isk..isk)
3) listing all of my expenditures for this month and next ... and the word for it wud be "budgetting" (bleh dikatakan 1 day, 3-4 kali la gak buat budget....what a headache...with the raya season coming real soon...tak sempat nak simpan duit)
4) have to show up tomorow for majlis berbuka puasa with the pengarah bahagian matrikulasi ( no complains here...i'm looking at it from the positive side...makan free yeahh...)
5) trying very hard to finish this tag thinggy... susah ahhh took me 2 hours to complete these questions...

so there u go...finally....told u that i lead a pathetic and boring life...and i have to go now...oohh ya since abg a'a has tagged me and yong, so i want to tag Yah, Iza, Cha, Jue and Yati...and whoever is reading this entry tapi tak buat lagi....so yg kena tag tuh kena buat jugak TIDAK BOLEH TIDAK esp to jue, iza and yati....kalau tak wat "putus kawan"hehehehe just kidding...

Ramadhan this year

Since tomorow the muslim will start fasting, i have make a few "azam" for this time around while celebrating Ramadhan

1) I'll try to read as much Al-Quran as possible ( i know i should have read more of it tapi setan selalu jer menguasai diri...since Ramadhan nih setan diikat berkobar2 nak start nih hehehe)
2)Kurangkan bercakap benda merapu (esp mengumpat)
3) try not to skip any terawih( altho akan ada yg tertinggal gak...esp bila time majlis berbuka puasa beramai2....slalu bertangguh..last2 terus tak buat hehehe)
4)kurangkan pembaziran when i go to pasar ramadhan( beli mengikut keperluan jer bukannya kehendak)
5)kena bersemangat everyday altho puasa...it's not an excuse to "not to do things"
hopefully boleh la handle these 5 resolutions...and dikesempatan ini izinkan saya menyusun 10 jari memohon keampunan dan kemaafan dari semua (esp visitors to my blog) and "HAPPY FASTING" to all muslims in the world!!!

Ohhh my gosh!!!

Yesterday while we were having our so called break (we were playing uno card), kak syam came and handed me a letter appointing me as one of the judges for the Pertandingan Menulis Puisi Kemerdekaan sempena sambutan kemerdekaan 50 thn , KMPP...

and with the letter, was enclosed 7 entries that requires me to evaluate the "puisis"...that's the scary part maaaa how on earth am i going to do that??? help!!! i dont have any background knowledge at all with this sastera thingy...alto during KPLI belajar skit about this kind of literature but i'm no expert laaaa

so i called mama last nite asking for her guidance and help...mama bleh gelak dulu...and mama said kan dah blajar dulu...mama terlupa kot anak dia yg sorang nih aliran sains mana la amik sastera masa sekolah dulu...cha kot la

anyway mama mention bout metafora, personafikasi, simili etc...mula2 tuh terus blank then slowly everthing came back to my mind....tapi all this literature terms blajar in english so kena translate la plak meaning dia nih hu..hu..hu...

kira kes kesian ler kat students yg namanya terkena yone check...then early in the morning i went and see en. subri (one of the lecturer here yg terer linguistik).....and he mentioned about hyperbola (i dont know what this means...yikes!!!) then he said about bunga bahasa la and many more....

to cut the long story short, i'll just check sekali lalu and tomorow nak i'll bring along the papers and ask mama to double check hehehh after all we have to use all the resources that we have kan....

~ H.S.M. 2 ~

Last night was the premier of High School Musical 2...overall i wud say the movie ok-ok jer...and well it is a typical teen movie where in the end everything falls into place and the good people "win" and the bad people "lose" very typical lah...

anyway since disney channel been doing the countdown to the most anticipited movie this year(2007) from disney production, and i dont have anything else to do during the weekend,i decided to follow all the countdown and all those movieclips from HSM and HSM2...the countdown to the movie started on saturday where they aired the HSM, and to my surprise, i never seen the movie from the start selalu terlepas part awal tuh...biasa la selalu kena berebut ngan abah sbb 7.30pm tuh kan time sembahyang and then at 8pm abah nak tgk berita hehehe but last weekend mama and abah balik kampung ada kenduri hehehhe so i got the tv for myself...bleh tgk channel apa2 pun sesuka hati

last saturday was the "DANCE ALONG" HSM version....the cast from the movie showed the dance steps for 2 songs from the HSM...1-ala lagu yg troy main basketball apa ntah tajuk lagu tuh get the head in the game kot...the 2nd song was the wildcats song-we all in this together

since i'm alone at home, so bleh la ikut the dance steps tanpa rasa malu2 alah hahahahhaha...kalau mama ada gerenti statik jer kat depan tv tuh....and on sunday, there were a few programs about the HSM2...ada satu program tuh hosted by vince, they played most of the songs that cud be found in HSM tapi dalam various languages (spanish, brazilian, hindi etc) yg tige nih jer yg sempat tgk...and lilo and stitch's version of we're in this together...giler cute...

For the songs between HSM and HSM2, i still prefer songs from HSM yet again i just heard the songs from HSM2 once or twice so tak masuk lagi dlm otak....the dance moves mmg cool ler and two thumbs up for the director kenny ortega cause he was one of the choreographer

So that's how i spent my time last weekend....sbb tuh hari nih pun kepala penuh about HSM...terlampau sangat tgk disney channel...ohh ya one more thing...they are having this school dance competition for the songs from HSM and semalam terkejut gak ler one of the groups yg masuk final (i think masuk final ler) was my secondary school SGGS.... :)

disney channel byk ler interview teenagers asking about the story and the characters.... and if my opinion counts, i dont think that troy tuh hensem pun...biasa2 jer but gabriella tuh lawa gak ler perhaps taste tak sama ngan bdk2 skang kot hahahah

Troubling issue

We had visitors from Kenya coming to the college today to observe the teaching method that our
oganisation been using. So we've been preparing for the visit for the past 3 days tak per la no need for me to explain about the whole incident la kan tapi benda yang keep on troubling me was those Kenyans were really surprise to see that most of the lecturers here in KMPP are ladies...

Well i should have said "Why not?" tapi tak terkeluar la plak...and one of them siap boleh kata apa tau...

"u are taking our (men) places in the working world"
(he said it in his own way...using different words...i had to take a few minutes to analyse his meaning)

in my experiance i never ever encounter a situation where people discriminate gender...not at home, not in school, not in maktab, not in uni and certainly not here in the college...it taken me by surprise and i didn't know how to react to this kindda statement...at first i tot i was the only one who feels that we ladies are being discriminate but then during lunch break met with a few other colleagues and they expressed their feelings

well the only thing that i know about gender discrimination was during before rasullullah time....when rasullullah became a rasul, he somehow managed to "naikkan martabat wanita" and since then people in the world started to do the same thing( i dont really know about the stats and all, i am very naive in this area)

so i did a short research on women rights in kenya and to my horror the women in kenya are being treated diffrently from us here jauh terkebelakang...i am forever grateful that i am in Malaysia and we dont have to endure all the things that the Kenyan women have to face...so here are some clippings...

Abuses of Women’s Property Rights

Limited Inheritance from Husbands. Many widows in Kenya are excluded from inheriting from their husbands. When men die, widows’ in-laws often evict them from their lands and homes and take other property, such as livestock and household goods.

Harmful Customary Practices. In some areas, widows are forced to engage in risky traditional practices involving unprotected sex in order to keep their property. These practices include wife inheritance, whereby a widow is “inherited” as a wife by a male relative of her deceased husband, and ritual “cleansing,” which involves sex with a social outcast, usually without a condom.

Unequal Inheritance from Parents. Women seldom inherit from their parents on an equal basis with their brothers since women are expected to marry and be “absorbed” by their husbands’ families.
Unequal Division of Property upon Divorce or Separation. Divorced and separated women are frequently expelled by their husbands from their homes with nothing more than their clothing.

Married Women’s Lack of Control over Property. Married women can seldom stop their husbands from selling valuable family property. Men are typically the registered landowners holding title deeds, and there is no legal bar against selling family land without their wives’ consent.

Discriminatory Laws and Customs. Kenya’s constitution outlaws discrimination on the basis of sex, but condones discrimination in personal and customary laws—which are central to property rights. A number of statutes also have discriminatory elements. The Law of Succession Act provides that a widow’s inheritance rights are terminated upon remarriage; widowers’ inheritance rights do not terminate upon remarriage. The Law of Succession Act is poorly enforced and has problematic exemptions. Case law establishes that family property may be evenly divided if the woman can prove contribution, but in practice, women rarely get property upon separation or divorce. Land laws, while not discriminatory on their face, do not promote or facilitate women’s land ownership. Finally, customary laws based on gender distinctions give men greater rights than women over property.

Biased Attitudes. Many officials and traditional leaders are biased against women; some say that women are untrustworthy or do not deserve equal property rights. One senior chief said: “A woman and the cows are a man’s property,” underscoring women’s low place in Kenyan society.

Unresponsive Government and Traditional Authorities. Chiefs, elders, and police often turn away women who come to them with property problems, saying these are family matters not worthy of their attention. Government officials admit that women’s property rights are not a priority. There are no government programs specifically aimed at preventing and remedying such violations.

Ineffective Courts. Lawyers and individual women complain that Kenya’s courts are biased against women, slow, corrupt, and often staffed with ill-trained or incompetent judges and magistrates. The Family Division of the High Court, which was established to expedite family law cases, operates only in Nairobi and is thus inaccessible to many women, especially in rural areas.

Other Obstacles to Women Claiming Property Rights. Women face serious obstacles to claiming their property rights. Many Kenyan women are unaware that they have legal property rights or have no idea how to enforce them. The time and expense of pursuing property claims can be insurmountable. Women also face violence and social stigma if they attempt to claim property. Moreover, nongovernmental organizations that work on women’s property rights are harassed for doing their work.
